Our client community is comprised of organizations that demonstrate a long-term commitment to pursue excellence. To this end we build project teams to develop and deliver customized programs with a depth and breadth of service appropriate to meet our client’s objectives. We focus on helping our clients create value that enables them to develop new institutional knowledge and capabilities, foster continuous improvement, and become model organizations.

The PHMI team brings together a diversity of knowledge and experience touching every corner of health care and education. Our client services and programs also draw upon the expertise of faculty and staff across Harvard University, at the Medical School, and at all of the Medical School’s affiliated teaching hospitals and institutes.

Initiating New Client Engagements
Our process for initiating new client relationships is as follows. For engagements focused on long-term objectives we typically follow a phased approach that begins with an initial interaction to clarify both parties’ expectations and to affirm their interest in working together. After PHMI and a prospective client agree on key principles of a relationship such as deliverables, term, etc., PHMI will send the prospective client a legally non-binding Business Concept Document (BCD). Pursuant to receiving the prospective client’s approval to proceed after reviewing the BCD, PHMI will provide a legally-binding document that defines the deliverables, the fees, and the responsibilities of each party. Most engagements at PHMI are captured in a legal agreement called the Master Services Agreement or “MSA”. The MSA serves as an umbrella agreement that contains a Statement of Work “SOW”. After the MSA is executed, SOWs are crafted as needed to capture a client’s evolving needs as reflected by deliverables and corresponding fees. Typically, the MSA is executed once--that is, at the beginning of an engagement; SOWs may be executed several times during an engagement.

For engagements involving discrete or short-term activities, PHMI may choose to develop a Short Term Services Agreement (STSA) that defines the nature of the services to be rendered, the payment terms, and the commitments of both parties to work together effectively.

Representation of our Relationships
While PHMI does not permit clients to license the use of its name and/or logos and marks, PHMI does allow all clients to make statements of factual representation regarding the activities that occur as part of our relationship. PHMI will provide assistance to determine how such representation may be developed and used appropriately in order to promote and enhance the awareness of the relationship between our organizations.
