• PHMI and National University of Singapore to present course on assessment

    Partners Harvard Medical International (PHMI), in association with the Medical Education Unit of the National University of Singapore (NUS) Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, will present a continuing education course entitled “A Systems Approach to Assessment in Medical Education.” The course, based on programs developed by the Harvard Macy Institute, is the fifth jointly offered education program of PHMI and NUS. During the four-day course, faculty and participants will focus on the critical assessment issues facing medical educators today, including how to measure and access the effectiveness of educators, departments, and institutions. The course will be co-directed by Elizabeth Armstrong, PhD, Senior Consultant at PHMI and Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School; and H. Thomas Aretz, MD, Vice President of PHMI and Associate Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School. Registration for the course is on a first-come, first-serve basis, with a deadline of August 15, 2008.   • Healthcare Systems, Ergonomics and Patient Safety (HEPS) International Conference

  • Advances in Neurology: Diagnosis, Management and Therapeutics

    More than 50 people attending the course, this continuing medical education course (CME) was supported by an educational grant from Novartis Pharma Schweiz. The course was created with four learning modules, covering dementia, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and spinal cord injury. Each module was designed to encourage the audience to reflect on their current experience then provide them with an update on the topic, followed by an opportunity to experiment with what they have learned through participation in the case study.

  • Nursing Development Conference: Role of Nurses in Promoting Patient Safety and Quality

    The Nursing Development Conference highlighted strategies in leadership, education, research and patient care to assist nurses in improving the patient care environment.  A community of experts — including nurse specialists from the U.S. and local health care institutions — spoke on a range of topics in this two-day course focusing on the instrumental roles nurses play in promoting, monitoring and improving quality and patient safety.   

  • Specialty Practi-Med: Endocrinology for Primary Care Physicians and Obstetricians
